BRAD SCOTT

Brad  (Hawthorn)  and  his  identical  twin  brother,  Chris  Scott (Brisbane),   were  recruited    in  the  1994  AFL  Draft,  with  Brad  being  taken  at  Pick  no.  60.  Brad  was  de-listed  in  1995  without  having  played  an  AFL  game,  however  he  was  re-drafted  by  Hawthorn  in  the  1996  Draft.

Brad  Scott  debuted  in  the  1997  season,  and  made  a  very  solid  contribution  by  playing  the  entire  22  Games.  The  Hawthorn  Club  decided  to  trade  Scott  after  the  1997  Season, to  the  Brisbane  Lions,  where he  joined  his  brother  Chris  and  played  out  his  career  in  Brisbane.  He  played  146  Games  for  Brisbane  from  1998  to  2006,  and his  AFL  tally  on  retirement  was  168 AFL  Games  and  45 Goals.

Brad  and  Chris  Scott  were  formidable  members  of  the  Brisbane  Lions  defence,  and  were renowned  for  their  courage  and  fearless  attack  on  the  ball  and  their rugged  aggression  towards  opposition  forwards.  The  Scott  Brothers  were two  of  the   hardest  players  in  the  AFL,  and  were  integral  members  of  the  Brisbane  Lions  Premiership  victories  in  2001  and  2002.

Brad  Scott  battled  numerous  injuries  throughout  his  career,  and  a  lesser  player  would  not  have  contributed  as  effectively,  nor  for  the 10  years  that  Scott  played  at  the  highest  level.

Shortly  after  his  retirement  as  a  player  in  2006,  the  Collingwood  Magpies  appointed  Brad  Scott  as  their  Development  Coach, primarily  working  with  the  Clubs  younger  players,  many  of  whom  are  now an   integral  part  of  the  resurgent  Magpies  line-up.  Prior  to  the 2009  Finals  Series , Scott  was  signed  as  Senior  Coach  of  the  North  Melbourne  Kangaroos  for  Season  2010,  on  a  3  year  deal.

The  Kangaroos  have  proven  to  be  very  inconsistent  in  Season  2010,  having  a  break-through  win  for  Scott  over  the  West  Coast  Eagles  in  Round  3, and  it  is  evident  that  Scotts  influence  on  the  players  attack  on  the  ball  will prove  most  beneficial  to  the  Kangaroos  during  his  Coaching    tenure,  and  of  acute  benefit  to  the  Kangaroos  youthful  Playing  Group.  We would  expect  more  consistency  from  the  Team  later in  2010,  with  re-building  of  a  powerful  Team  Unit  to  bear  fruit  during  2011  and  beyond.

Brad  Scott  has  the  experience,  endeavour    and  knowledge   to  mould  the  Kangaroos  into  a  Finals  Team  within  3  Years,  and  the  Club  needs  to  support  him  steadfastly  during  this  time.
